The Return of Marcus Welby, M.D.(1984)
The Return of Marcus Welby, M.D. reunites audiences with the compassionate physician as he navigates multiple crises. Welby attempts to reconcile an old friend turned hospital administrator with his own son, now a practicing doctor who's involved with a patient suffering from kidney disease. When a pregnant patient and her husband are struck by tragedy—the husband dies—the grieving mother blames Welby and refuses to bond with her newborn. Meanwhile, the hospital where Welby has devoted years of service moves to downsize its aging staff, placing him at risk of losing his position. Caught between personal relationships, patient care, and institutional politics, Welby must confront the limits of his influence and the cost of compassion in modern medicine.
