Mor Defter(1964)

Mor Defter is a Turkish psychological drama that follows Suphi as he constructs an elaborate fictional narrative to cope with his girlfriend İffet's death in a tragic accident. Wracked with guilt, Suphi retreats into his imagination, reimagining her death as a murder mystery. In his constructed world, İffet is killed by a method that leaves no trace, and suspicion falls on Suphi himself when her brother-in-law, Professor İsmail Sami, begins to investigate. With help from Meryem, İsmail's assistant, Suphi attempts to uncover the truth behind the events he has invented. As reality and fiction blur, Suphi's grip on what actually happened weakens, and the narrative spirals into moral ambiguity and psychological complexity.
