The Marchioness Disaster is a factual reconstruction of the 1989 collision between two vessels on the River Thames that claimed over 50 lives. On a summer night in August, the pleasure boat Marchioness was struck by the Bow Belle Dredger in one of Britain's worst maritime disasters. The film meticulously traces the events leading up to the tragedy, the chaos of the collision itself, and the aftermath that devastated families and communities. Originally scheduled for ITV broadcast in 2007, The Marchioness Disaster was withdrawn before transmission following objections from victims' families. Though it has never aired in the UK, the film was screened internationally, offering a sobering examination of a preventable catastrophe and its lasting human cost.
