Sofía is a Spanish television film about the early life of Queen Sofía of Spain. Set in summer 1961 at the Greek royal palace of Mon Repos in Corfu, the story follows preparations for a fateful visit by the Spanish royal family in exile. The purpose of their arrival is to formalize a relationship between Sofía, eldest daughter of Greek King Paul and Queen Frederika, and Juan Carlos, son of Juan de Borbón. The two had met briefly in London at the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Kent.
