Journey to the West(1996)

Journey to the West is a Hong Kong television series that brings the classic novel to vivid life. Dicky Cheung stars as the mischievous Monkey King, alongside Kwong Wah, Wayne Lai, and Evergreen Mak in this 1996 TVB production. The story follows the legendary pilgrimage to India, blending action, comedy, and fantasy as the four companions face demons, gods, and impossible trials. A sequel arrived in 1998 with Benny Chan taking over the Monkey King role after contract disputes with the network. Cheung would later return to the character in The Monkey King: Quest for the Sutra, another TVB series that captured the spirit of this beloved tale for a new generation of viewers.
