Games People Play(1980)

Games People Play is an NBC game show that aired from 1980 to 1981, hosted by Bryant Gumbel and Mike Adamle. The series featured unconventional athletic competitions—belly flop contests, taxicab demolition derbies, and other absurd physical challenges—that pushed contestants to their limits. The show became a cultural footnote when Sylvester Stallone spotted Mr. T winning the "World's Toughest Bouncer" competition and subsequently cast him as Clubber Lang in Rocky III. The title riffs on the 1960s psychology bestseller about interpersonal dynamics, though Games People Play took a decidedly more literal, slapstick approach to its subject matter. Despite its novelty and star-making moment, the series lasted just one season.
