Soul Eater is an anime series set at Shibusen, a technical academy for weapon meisters and their human weapon partners. Three student teams—Maka and Soul Eater, Black Star and Tsubaki, and Death the Kid with Patty and Liz Thompson—pursue the ultimate goal of crafting a "Death Scythe," the highest-ranking weapon fit for use by the Shinigami. To achieve this, they must collect the souls of 99 evil humans and one witch. While hunting for souls, the students balance their studies with defending Death City from formidable creatures and growing stronger themselves. The series blends action, dark comedy, and supernatural elements as these young meisters navigate the dangerous line between their academic duties and their mission to become worthy of their elite status.
