Ijon Tichy: Raumpilot is a satirical German science fiction series that adapts Stanisław Lem's The Star Diaries for television. Oliver Jahn stars as the titular space pilot, a wanderer caught in absurd cosmic mishaps across distant worlds. Nora Tschirner anchors the ensemble cast as the series follows Tichy through surreal encounters that blend dark humor with philosophical undertones. Created by Randa Chahoud, Dennis Jacobsen, and Jahn, the show channels Lem's wit and social commentary, turning space exploration into a vehicle for satirizing human nature and society. The first season premiered on ZDF in 2007, with episodes released online ahead of broadcast. A second season followed on ZDFneo in 2011. Both seasons are available on DVD.
