Quentin Durward is a 1971 French-German swashbuckler series that adapts Sir Walter Scott's 1823 novel for television. The story follows a Scottish soldier serving King Louis XI of France as the monarch navigates treacherous court politics and faces threats from his rival Charles the Bold and the scheming Jean Balue. Directed by Gilles Grangier and starring Amadeus August in the lead role alongside Marie-France Boyer as Isabelle de Croye, the series stays faithful to Scott's source material while taking advantage of authentic French locations. The French version comprises seven 52-minute episodes, while the German dub was restructured into thirteen shorter installments. Both versions are available on DVD.
