Hezar Dastan(1988)
Hezar Dastan is an Iranian epic historical drama series from 1987, directed by Ali Hatami. Spanning two turbulent periods—the final days of the Qajar Dynasty and World War II—the series follows Reza Khoshnevis as he navigates corruption within government and pursues unconventional methods to reform it. Hatami's ambitious eight-year production, which began in 1979, created elaborate sets representing Tehran across both eras and established Iran's first dedicated film studio and backlot, Ghazali Cinema Town. The series became one of the most influential works in Iranian broadcasting history, blending historical scope with intimate character drama to examine power, morality, and resistance during Iran's most volatile decades.
