White Spring(2009)

White Spring is a Japanese drama following Haruo, a former yakuza who emerges from nine years in prison only to have his savings stolen within hours of release. Desperate and adrift, he tracks down an old underworld contact and learns a devastating truth: his former girlfriend Mariko, for whom he committed murder to fund her medical care, has died. Consumed by rage and loss, Haruo becomes fixated on the man who was with Mariko at the end—a baker now living quietly with his wife and daughter. When Haruo encounters the baker's young daughter Sachi by chance, his quest for vengeance grows complicated. The series explores whether redemption is possible for those trying to escape their violent pasts, and what happens when grief and anger collide with innocent lives.
