Takeshi's Castle is a Japanese game show that aired from 1986 to 1990 on Tokyo Broadcasting System. Actor Takeshi Kitano stars as an eccentric count who presides over an elaborate castle filled with punishing obstacle courses and absurd physical challenges. Contestants attempt to battle their way through increasingly difficult trials to reach Kitano's throne room and claim the grand prize of one million yen. The show became a global cult phenomenon, celebrated for its inventive stunts, slapstick humor, and the sheer determination of players willing to humiliate themselves on camera. A special live revival broadcast aired in 2005 for TBS's 50th anniversary.
