Devil's Playground is a drama series set in 1988, three and a half decades after the original film. Tom Allen, now a widowed Sydney psychiatrist in his 40s, is asked by the Bishop of Sydney to counsel troubled priests. As Tom conducts these sessions, he discovers a deep scandal within the Church and finds himself caught between his Catholic faith and his pursuit of truth. The institution's efforts to suppress the scandal force Tom into an escalating conflict with Church leadership, exposing layers of corruption and institutional power he never anticipated. His quest for justice becomes personal and dangerous, testing his professional ethics, his beliefs, and his family's safety as he navigates the Church's determined resistance to accountability.
