My Family(2005)

My Family is a Hong Kong drama series that explores power and legacy within a traditional family structure. Man Tai-Lor, a school principal, rules the family with strict authority while his son Man Chiu-Kit chafes under his control, eager to take charge. When Tai-Lor develops Parkinson's disease, he withdraws from public life and keeps his diagnosis secret, masking his growing vulnerability. As the truth emerges, Tai-Lor must confront his mortality and finally relinquish his grip on the family, passing leadership to Chiu-Kit. The series examines the tension between generations, the burden of patriarchal responsibility, and the difficult process of letting go as illness forces a family to renegotiate its bonds and hierarchy.
