Die Patriarchin is a German drama series following Nina Vandenberg, whose life unravels after a drunken accident destroys the family villa and her husband Gero dies in a plane crash. When investigators discover mysterious cash in the wreckage and 40 million euros missing from the family's coffee roasting company, suspicion falls on Nina—she signed documents without question. Determined to clear her name and uncover the truth, Nina teams up with her retired father-in-law Gorm. Their investigation points to a coffee plantation in Kenya, prompting Nina to travel there with her daughter Finja. Upon arrival, she's immediately arrested by local police, thrusting her into a dangerous web of corruption and deception far from home.
