Finding Home(2018)

Finding Home is a Danish series set in 1899 that follows Marie Jensen, a determined orphan who refuses to accept her fate. When the freighter Hope arrives at her orphanage and its captain adopts her two younger siblings, Marie takes drastic action—she cuts her hair, disguises herself as a boy named Martin, and stows away as a deck boy. The ship carries her across the North Sea toward Norway and Iceland, where Marie searches for her father, believed lost at sea years ago. Aboard the Hope, Marie discovers friendship, love, and the courage to forge her own path. This coming-of-age adventure explores themes of family, independence, and a young woman's defiance against the rigid expectations of her time. The journey becomes as much about self-discovery as it is about reuniting her fractured family.
