The City and the City(2018)

The City and the City is a noir-tinged mystery series following Inspector Tyador Borlú of the Extreme Crime Squad as he investigates the murder of a foreign student found dead in the decaying streets of Besźel. The case takes a sinister turn when evidence points to the victim's origins in Ul Qoma, a neighboring city locked in a fraught and volatile relationship with Besźel. As Borlú digs deeper, he discovers that the two cities occupy the same physical space yet remain deliberately, forcibly separated by law and custom. Pursuing the truth threatens to unravel the fragile order that keeps them apart and forces Borlú to confront the moral cost of the world he inhabits.
