The Dream of Nepenthes(2017)

The Dream of Nepenthes is a Japanese drama series following Mifuyu, a high school student whose life unravels after her mother's death. Consumed by caregiving duties while her mother battled illness, Mifuyu had abandoned thoughts of her future. When her father moves his new girlfriend into their home and forces Mifuyu out, she's left with nowhere to turn. She finds refuge with her mother's cousin in an upscale Tokyo neighborhood, where she must rebuild her life from scratch. The series explores themes of loss, displacement, and resilience as Mifuyu navigates unexpected circumstances and discovers her path forward amid grief and family upheaval.
