A Tree In The Sun is a Japanese historical drama set during the final collapse of the Tokugawa shogunate. Two young men—Ibuya Majiro, an honest but struggling low-ranking samurai, and Tezuka Ryoan, a Western-trained doctor with a roguish streak—navigate the chaos of their era bound by deep friendship. As their world crumbles around them, Ibuya clings to his ideals of justice and loyalty to a dying regime, while the compassionate but irresponsible Ryoan charts his own course. Their contrasting paths test the bonds between them as they confront destiny and the cost of conviction in an age of upheaval.
