Fame is an American drama series that aired from 1982 to 1987, following students and faculty at New York City's High School for the Performing Arts. Blending music with character-driven storytelling, the show drew inspiration from the real Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School while creating fictional narratives around the lives of aspiring performers. Though most interior scenes were shot in Hollywood, the series captured New York's energy through location filming in the city's streets. The show became a cultural phenomenon, especially in the UK, spawning hit records and concert tours by its cast. Despite its popularity, few cast members sustained major careers after the series ended. The show's legacy endured enough to warrant a 2008 reunion special, Bring Back...Fame, which reunited cast members for British television audiences.
