La Commune(2007)

La Commune is a French crime drama set in a sprawling, economically devastated neighborhood plagued by unemployment, drug trafficking, and violence. After two decades in prison, charismatic Muslim leader Isham Amadi returns home to find his childhood friend Housmane Daoud now controls the district. When authorities announce plans to demolish the crumbling housing blocks, residents suspect a deliberate effort to displace them. Amadi rallies the community to resist, framing it as political activism. But beneath the public struggle lies a darker reality: a deadly turf war between Amadi and Daoud, two former brothers-in-arms bound by a twenty-year-old crime. As tensions escalate, personal vengeance and neighborhood survival become impossible to separate, forcing residents to choose sides in a conflict that threatens to destroy everything.
