The Sharp End(1991)

The Sharp End is a 1991 British comedy drama that follows Celia Forrest, a widow who inherits and takes over her late husband's debt collection agency. Her ambitious move attracts fierce opposition from a ruthless business rival determined to shut her down. Celia hires Carmichael, an illiterate hermit, as her assistant, and the unlikely pair navigate the challenges of running the business together—Carmichael pedalling around on a pushbike while Celia records his daily instructions on tape. Written by Roy Clarke and starring Gwen Taylor and James Cosmo, the series aired for eight episodes on BBC1 in spring 1991. Despite its charming premise and strong cast, The Sharp End failed to find an audience and was cancelled after one season.
