The Shogunate's Harem(1986)

The Shogunate's Harem is a period drama centered on a dangerous power struggle in feudal Japan. When a new shogun assumes the throne following his brother's death, he discovers that a woman from the former shogun's harem has escaped while pregnant. Fearing a male heir could threaten his claim, the new shogun coerces a doctor named Genshiro into finding the woman and terminating her pregnancy. Genshiro, who harbors his own fugitive lover from the harem, faces an impossible choice. As he searches for the pregnant woman, Genshiro and his associates pursue increasingly desperate and violent methods.
