Italian Love(1920)
Italian Love is a silent comedy short where Ethelyn Gibson flees her father's scheme to marry her off to Leo White, a powerful music hall owner in Little Italy. Disguising herself as a man, she crosses paths with Billy West in a chaotic series of burlesque gags and slapstick mishaps. The film trades coherent plot for rapid-fire comedy bits typical of the era, relying on physical humor and mistaken identity for laughs. Gibson's cross-dressing disguise drives much of the confusion as she tries to escape her arranged fate, while West provides comic relief through exaggerated reactions and pratfalls. Though loosely constructed, Italian Love captures the anarchic energy of early silent comedy, where plot takes a backseat to pure comedic spectacle.
