Didn't Do It For Love(1998)
The adventurous life of Eva Norvind
Didn't Do It For Love is a documentary portrait of Eva Norvind, a Norwegian-born performer who reinvented herself across three continents and decades. Born in Trondheim, Norvind worked as a showgirl in Paris, became Mexico's answer to Marilyn Monroe during the 1960s, and later established herself as New York's most notorious dominatrix in the 1980s. Through archival film clips, photographs, and candid interviews with friends, lovers, and family members, the film traces Norvind's unconventional life and her exploration of desire, power, and sexuality. Director Monika Treut constructs an intimate portrait of a woman who consistently defied convention, examining the psychological currents that shaped her choices and her relentless pursuit of reinvention across multiple identities and worlds.
