Our Heroes Died Tonight(2013)

Our Heroes Died Tonight is a French film set in early 1960s Paris, following Simon, a masked wrestler known as "The Specter," and his war-weary friend Victor, who has just returned from combat. Simon invites Victor to join him in the ring as his rival, "The Slaughterer of Belleville," but Victor, still traumatized by his military service, refuses to play the villain. He wants to be the hero for once. When Simon suggests they swap masks to let Victor wrestle as the good guy, the plan quickly unravels. The wrestling crowd isn't easily deceived, and the deception threatens to expose both men. The film explores identity, friendship, and the struggle to escape predetermined roles in a gritty post-war setting.
