Falling Stars(1981)

Falling Stars is a Soviet drama adapted from stories by Viktor Astafyev that follows a wounded soldier recovering in a hospital during wartime. Haunted by memories of a childhood sweetheart, he begins to wonder if the nurse caring for him might be that same girl grown up. As they grow close and romance blossoms, the soldier dreams of marriage—until the nurse's mother intervenes with a harsh truth: if he dies or returns maimed from the front lines still raging nearby, her daughter will suffer far more than if he simply walks away. Caught between love and the brutal calculus of war, the soldier must choose between his heart and the nurse's future.
