The Glacier Fox is a nature documentary following two foxes, Flep and Leila, through a year on Hokkaido, Japan's northernmost island. After Flep wins a territorial fight to claim Leila as his mate, the pair raise five kits while navigating the brutal cycle of long, freezing winters and brief summers. Their survival depends on avoiding human threats—chicken farms, snowmobiles, and habitat encroachment—while enduring the island's punishing cold. Director Koreyoshi Kurahara captures both the triumphs and tragedies of their family's struggle, revealing how only the strongest adapt to this harsh landscape. The film presents an intimate portrait of wild foxes caught between their instincts and an increasingly hostile world.
