Co/Ma(2004)

Co/Ma is a documentary following 19 filmmakers from across ten European countries as they attempt an audacious creative challenge. Selected by director Mike Figgis for a European Film Academy masterclass, the participants travel to Slovenia with a single week to conceive, shoot, and complete a 90-minute feature film from scratch. The clock ticks relentlessly as crews collaborate under intense pressure, navigating creative differences and logistical hurdles. On day eight, their finished work screens publicly in a cinema. Co/Ma captures the raw energy of filmmaking stripped to its essentials—no safety nets, no second takes at the planning stage, only the collective will to create something complete and coherent in seven days. It's a portrait of ambition, craft, and the spontaneous magic that emerges when talented artists work against the clock.
