Promises(1975)

Promises is a South Korean film that follows Sook-young, an unassuming middle-aged woman who harbors a deadly secret: she's a serial killer. During a train journey to Mokpo, she reflects on a transformative earlier trip when, as a prisoner on furlough, she was accompanied by a tough but compassionate female guard. On this new voyage, she encounters Hoon, a young man who becomes drawn to her. In an unexpected turn, the guard permits them a strange moment of intimacy—a makeshift wedding ceremony in a hilltop graveyard. The film weaves together memory, desire, and redemption as these three unlikely figures navigate the boundaries between violence and tenderness.
