Fairy of the Night(1986)

Fairy of the Night is a Korean thriller about In-chul, a botanist researching in the mountains, who accepts shelter at a remote forest cottage run by Jin-suk and his father Sang-do. What begins as hospitality turns sinister when In-chul discovers the family's horrifying secret: Sang-do has been luring visitors to perform live dissections on them. Captured and strapped to a surgery table, In-chul escapes with help from Jin-suk and a passing hiker. The truth emerges in Sang-do's confession—decades of nightmares stemming from forced participation in Japanese wartime atrocities have twisted him into a serial killer. Unable to live with his crimes, Sang-do takes his own life, leaving In-chul and Jin-suk to flee the cottage and its darkness behind. A haunting exploration of trauma, guilt, and the violence it breeds.
