Dog Duet(1975)

Dog Duet is a short experimental film capturing two dogs in a darkened room, their eyes locked on something just beyond the frame. Their heads move in tandem—left, right, up, down—as they track an unseen object with intense focus. At one moment, their blinking synchronizes in an almost hypnotic rhythm. Hooka eventually settles into a resting position while Man Ray remains transfixed. As the piece unfolds, the dogs crane their necks to look behind them, and in a striking instant, their movements mirror each other in perfect counterpoint. The revelation comes at the end: the object commanding their complete attention is simply a tennis ball held in the filmmaker's hand. The film transforms this everyday moment into a meditative study of animal behavior and shared attention.
