The Human Element(2016)

The Human Element is a 1944-set drama set in Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, where a young SS psychologist is tasked with analyzing Jewish prisoners. His assignment becomes fraught when he discovers his first subject is himself a trained psychologist. The two men engage in a fierce intellectual battle over the meaning of medical ethics and human decency, their debate unfolding against the horrors of the camp. The film explores the moral contradictions inherent in their positions—one wielding institutional power, the other stripped of agency—and questions whether conscience can survive in a system designed to dehumanize.
