The Blessed(2017)

The Blessed is a drama set in post-civil war Algiers, following two parallel stories. Amal and Samir mark twenty years of marriage with a restaurant dinner, using the occasion to confront their diverging views on Algeria—Amal mourning lost ideals while Samir advocates acceptance and adaptation. Meanwhile, their son Fahim and friends Feriel and Reda navigate a hostile city, caught between youthful ambition and the harsh realities of their surroundings. The film weaves together the older generation's disillusionment with the younger generation's struggle to carve out futures in a fractured society, exploring how personal relationships and national trauma intersect across age and experience.
