Wretches(2018)

Wretches is a South Korean film about the brutal hierarchy of school violence. Jae-young, a bullied high school student, suffers under the tyranny of mob leader Yong-gyu. When Yong-gyu lands in the hospital, Hoon seizes the opportunity to claim his throne, only intensifying the cruelty. Jae-young's hope that the power vacuum might bring relief crumbles quickly—Hoon proves even more vicious and relentless than his predecessor. The film traces how removing one oppressor simply invites another to fill the void, trapping Jae-young in an inescapable cycle of torment. A dark portrait of adolescent power struggles and the futility of waiting for salvation from above.
