The Song of Lunch(2010)

The Song of Lunch is a drama adapted from Christopher Reid's narrative poem, following a book editor who reunites with his former lover for lunch at Zanzotti's, a cherished Soho restaurant they once haunted together. Fifteen years have passed since their breakup, yet nostalgia draws them back to the same table, the same wine list, the same ghosts of their past. As the meal unfolds, memories surface and emotions resurface—regret mingles with longing, conversation drifts between present reality and what might have been. The film captures the bittersweet ache of rekindled connection, where a single afternoon becomes a reckoning with time, loss, and the people we've loved. Reid's poetic sensibility translates into an intimate, melancholic portrait of two people suspended between then and now, searching for answers in the spaces between courses.
