Three Moons(2015)

Three Moons is a sequel to the award-winning The Pierrot Prays to the Moon. Set in a remote mountain village, the film follows Mayu, a wife and mother bound by duty to her ailing mother-in-law. Trapped in the quiet rhythms of caregiving, Mayu encounters a man from Tokyo and falls into an unexpected, forbidden romance. Their connection offers her a glimpse of a different life—one that transforms her understanding of herself. Years pass as their secret affair deepens, until the man asks her to leave everything behind and start anew in the city. Mayu faces an impossible choice: honour her family obligations and remain in her village, or abandon her home for a love that feels like her only escape. Three Moons explores the tension between duty and desire, tradition and personal longing, in a quietly devastating portrait of a woman at a crossroads.
