Rabbit's Paw is a Russian romance set in 1990s Petersburg during perestroika. Alya, a witty intellectual, and Nika, a French architect, are drawn to each other but struggle to build a life together—whether in his ancestral Lyon castle or her cramped communal apartment filled with eccentric neighbors. Their bond is tested when Mitya, Alya's devoted childhood friend whose feelings go unnoticed, exploits a misunderstanding and Nika's jealousy to drive them apart for years. What begins as a tender connection becomes a story of separation, longing, and the cost of missed chances during a transformative era in Russian history.
