Heute fängt mein Leben an is a German drama about a woman reclaiming her life after decades of self-sacrifice. Hedi Ohlsen has spent her entire adult life caring for others—raising her child, managing the household, and working as a dental assistant to support her husband Johannes. When he abandons her for a younger woman, Hedi continues tending to his elderly mother Agnes. Just as Hedi finally glimpses the freedom to pursue her own dreams, her pregnant daughter Leonie arrives at her door, jobless and desperate. With no father in the picture, Leonie expects Hedi to raise her grandchild. Caught between her newfound independence and family obligation, Hedi must decide whether she can truly claim the life she's always wanted or if duty will claim her once more.
