Wheats of Hope(2019)

Wheats of Hope is a drama following Maisui, a kind-hearted rural girl forced to leave school after her father's accidental injury. Struggling alone in the city, she meets Dan Qing, a folk artist and son of a shop worker, who becomes her mentor in painting. When misunderstandings arise between Dan Qing and Maisui, she distances herself from their work together. Dan Qing later discovers Maisui's talent and invites her to participate in a French promotion of Chinese peasant painting—an opportunity she initially refuses. The film explores themes of rural hardship, artistic discovery, and the tension between tradition and ambition as Maisui navigates her path forward.
