Hang on a Minute Mate!(1982)

Hang on a Minute Mate! is a New Zealand comedy following two larrikins, Sam and Jack, on a chaotic road trip across the country. What starts as a casual adventure fuelled by blokey banter takes a wild turn when a pit stop at Hokonui Pub spirals into absurd escapades involving a stolen road roller, tall tales, and a stint in jail. Sam must eventually face the music and return home to his wife, but not before the pair stumble through a series of increasingly ridiculous situations. Based on Barry Crump's novels featuring the anti-hero Sam Cash, the film captures the irreverent spirit of classic Kiwi humour with its shaggy-dog storytelling and deadpan charm.
