Celina's Son(2018)

Celina's Son is a 25-minute documentary portrait of Andy Montañez, one of Puerto Rico's most celebrated singers. Told through the eyes of his mother, Doña Celina, the film traces Montañez's rise from humble beginnings to Latin American stardom, revealing the pride of a mother watching her oldest of 18 children achieve greatness. Despite his fame across Puerto Rico and the wider Latino world, Montañez remains grounded and sincere. The film weaves together Doña Celina's intimate narrative with commentary from fellow Puerto Rican singer Danny Rivera, graphic artist Nick Quijano, and renowned composer Cuco Peña, painting a vivid portrait of a grass-roots performer whose working-class roots shaped his artistry and character.
