The Stand at Apache River(1953)

The Stand at Apache River is a Western that pits law and prejudice against each other at a remote frontier outpost. Sheriff Lane Dakota holds a wounded robbery-murder suspect when Apache warriors ambush the station. Trapped overnight with other travelers—including two women carrying an unusual amount of fine clothing—Lane must navigate mounting tensions as a band of Apaches arrives from the reservation. When bigoted Colonel Morsby arrives, eager to shoot first and ask questions later, the fragile standoff threatens to explode into violence. The film explores the clash between justice, survival, and the racial hatred that defined the era, as characters on both sides of the conflict face impossible choices.
