Pipo de Clown en de Piraten van Toen is a children's adventure film following the performers of Circus Pipo. When a mysterious man steals Plom's ventriloquist dummy during a performance, the trio—Pipo, Plom, and Klukkluk—pursue him to the harbor and accidentally board a pirate ship. Locked in the hold and later captured by the crew, they discover the thief is Lubbeduh, a pirate captain who took the puppet because it resembles his lost son, Takko. Lubbeduh transports his unexpected prisoners to the Island of Yesteryear, where a fantastical journey unfolds.
