Outing(2021)

Outing is a South Korean drama following Geumja and Yeo-ok, a middle-aged lesbian couple whose quiet life is disrupted by a late-night call. Yeo-ok's ex-husband has died, and the two must return to their hometown for the first time in two decades to attend his funeral. What should be a somber occasion becomes fraught with tension as they arrive as unwelcome guests, forced to confront the prejudices and secrets of a community they left behind. The film explores themes of identity, belonging, and the cost of living authentically in a society slow to accept them. Geumja and Yeo-ok navigate grief, family obligation, and their own resilience as they reckon with their past and present.
