Tharlo(2015)

Tharlo is a Tibetan shepherd in his forties known only by his ponytail, since no one remembers his real name. An orphan with a remarkable memory for everything except his own past, he lives a quiet life herding sheep in a remote village. When he travels to town to obtain an identity card, he meets a woman in a barber shop who upends his world. Desperate to discover who he really is, Tharlo sells his entire flock—including sheep entrusted to him by villagers—and sets out with the girl to find himself. The journey becomes a cruel lesson in vulnerability. Betrayed and swindled, Tharlo watches his defining ponytail fall away in the mirror, leaving him unmoored. In pursuing his true identity, he loses the only self he knew.
