Chase(2017)

Chase is a Japanese crime thriller series following Mikami, an investigative journalist, and Mai, a rookie assistant director at a satellite broadcaster, as they reexamine a brutal cold case from 27 years prior. Five young girls were murdered, and a man was convicted based on DNA evidence—but inconsistencies in the investigation plant seeds of doubt. As Mikami and Mai dig deeper, they uncover a disturbing possibility: the wrong person may have been imprisoned. Their pursuit of the truth puts them at odds with institutional forces determined to keep the case closed. The series explores the power of dogged journalism to challenge systemic injustice and expose what powerful interests have worked to bury.
