De frente al sol is a Mexican drama series centered on Alicia Sandoval, a single mother devoted to providing her daughter Carolina with quality education. Alicia's closest friend is Chole, an indigenous woman living with her spirited mother Lich and her own daughter Lupita. Despite their family bond, Lupita is ashamed of her indigenous heritage and treats her mother and grandmother with disdain. When Carolina and Lupita meet at high school, an unlikely friendship forms between them.
