Die Lange Strasse(1979)

Die Lange Strasse is a German drama series set in 1949 in the Brandenburg village of Grafenberg, on the eve of the GDR's founding. Michel Hollmann, a roadworker, anchors his life around his wife Lotte and two children, pouring his energy into restoring a summerhouse. His siblings—Karl, the mayor; Edeltraut, married to a prosperous lamp manufacturer; and Hanna, whose husband Hermann is a fisherman locked in dispute with a local landowner—navigate their own struggles and ambitions in this transitional moment. Bound by blood yet pulled in different directions, the Hollmann family confronts the personal conflicts and competing desires that test their bonds as their world transforms.
