Bellamy(1981)

Bellamy is an Australian police drama series that aired on the Ten Network in 1981. The show follows Steve Bellamy, a maverick cop navigating cases with his partner Detective Mitchell. The series stands out for its grittier tone, notably more violent than earlier Australian police procedurals of the 1970s. Supporting characters include the skeptical Daley, forensics technician Clem, and street-wise kid Ginger, who befriends Bellamy early on. Detective Burns appears later in the run, eventually revealed as corrupt. Despite its harder edge, Bellamy struggled to find an audience, earning only modest ratings. The network shuffled it through various time slots, and the series ended after a single season of 26 one-hour episodes, never returning for renewal.
